Job Corps: Job Corps is a career training and education program for students ages 16 through 24 who meet low-income requirements.  It is designed to help students find the path to personal and career success and all at no cost to eligible students.  If you are not ready to start college after high school graduation or are struggling in the traditional high school environment, Job Corps may be the solution.  To learn more about Job Corps visit their website at www.recruiting.jobcorps.gov  or call (800) 733-5627.  You can also stop by the Guidance Office for a brochure.

Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Scholarship Program  November 13, 2019  Maximum $40,000

Eligibility

Applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • Senior standing – Plan to graduate from a U.S. high school in spring 2020.
  • Fall College Enrollment – Intend to enroll in an accredited four-year college beginning in fall 2020.
  • GPA – Earn a cumulative unweighted GPA of 3.5 or above.
  • Test Scores – Receive a minimum SAT total of 1200 or ACT composite of 26.
  • Income – Demonstrate unmet financial need. We will consider applicants with family income up to $95,000. Last year’s cohort of new college scholarship recipients had a median family income of approximately $35,000.

GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program   $10,000-$40,000

To be eligible for this award, applicants must:

  • demonstrate at school, at the workplace, and within the community the attributes of leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship;
  • demonstrate strong academic performance (minimum 3.0 grade point average/4.0 scale or equivalent);
  • be citizens of the United States of America;
  • be current high school seniors attending high school in the United States (students living on U.S. Armed Forces base and homeschooled students are also eligible); and

Holiday for Heroes   $2,000-$5,000 Graduating Senior who is a child of a Firefighter, or who is a child of a military service person, or who is a child of a Peace Officer. You may also be a senior who shows exemplary selfless attitude towards their school, community, and country.

The Hagan Scholarship   350 scholarships are awarded. The unment financial need of the recipient, up to $5,000 each semester. Many eligibility  requirements, some of the main requirements are 3.5 GPA and 23 ACT, must have a financial need.

Becker Law Firm Essay Scholarship    3 scholarships that equal $5000 This scholarship is open to all seniors in the US. Information was emailed to seniors 02/25/19. 
OC Masonic Lodge Outstanding Student Scholarship   $500

Must be a full time student at your institution of choice. Minimum GPA of 2.5  

This scholarship is for vocational students. 

Applications were given to qualified Seniors 03/20/19.
The Caring.com Scholarship    $1,500 Seniors that are care givers.  Link to the application was emailed to seniors 03/06/19. 
Northern KY Sports Hall of Fame Scholarship   $1,000 Seniors who have a parent, step-parent, grandparent or step-grandparent that is a member of the Northern Kentucky Sports Hall of Fame. ACT minimum score of a 20, minimum GPA of 2.5.

KMHI Scholarships

 

$1,000 Seniors who currently reside in a modular, manufactured or mobile homes are eligible to apply. Students going into the construction industry are eligible to apply for the trade and apprenticeship scholarship as well. Same application.  Applications emailed to seniors 02/28/19.

 National Co-op Scholarship    Awards Vary per School  must have a 3.5 or better GPA and must apply and be admitted to any of the following schools: Drexel, Johnson & Wales, Kettering, Rochester Institute of Technology, University of Cincinnati, University of Toledo or Wentworth Institute of Technology. The Cumberland Family Medical Center, Inc. Community Scholarship   $1000 Seniors planning to attend a post-secondary school and major in a health-related field of study.

KY Federation of Republican Women Scholarship   $1000 Must be a senior girl that has been politically active within the Republican Party during her high school career. Must also be registered to vote as a Republican and planning to attend college in Kentucky.

Ripple Effect Scholarship Open to apply. Not sure of deadline it doesn't list one on the website.  $500 to be eligible you must live in a county served by Kentucky American Water, be a senior and attending any accredited in-state or out-of-state university, college or trade school.

Louis Stout Memorial Scholarship    $2,000 must be a senior varsity athlete, have a 3.5 GPA, involved in school activities, and community service.

Whitaker Bank/ KHSAA Sweet 16

Robert Krohman Memorial Scholarship   $2000 Must be a senior with a GPA of 2.5, must be planning to study in a field similar to one of the following:  engineering, construction mgmt., solid waste mgmt., or public adminstration. Applications were emailed to Seniors on 3/14/19.
 

McDonald's/Ray Kroc Scholarship Appication

  $3000 Must be a senior with a GPA of 3.0, have community involvement.

Shannon O'Daniel Scholarship   $1000 Must be a senior that is currently under physician's care for epilepsy or a seizure disorder.  Applications were emailed to Seniors 03/14/19.
4-H Scholarship   $500

You must be a current 4-H member and have been enrolled in 4-H for six years, including current year.

M.D. Hunter Scholarship    $1000 Must have financial need and have at least a GPA of 2.0.  Applications were emailed to Seniors 03/01/19.
Bessie M. Sparks Memorial Scholarship Not available for 2019  The number of scholarships will depend on proceeds from the fund. Each scholarship given is worth $1000 for the term of 1 year subject to the student maintaining a 2.0 on a 4.0 scale.  Must be a graduate or graduating Owen County High School enrolled in a degree program. Degree programs may be Associate, Bachelor or other degrees.  Applications were emailed to seniors 04/20/18.
Owen County Conservation District Scholarship   $1,000 Students must enroll in a program of study related to conservation, forestry, soil science, biology, ecology, wildlife science, or ag related fields. You must also have a min. GPA of 2.75 Applications were emailed to Seniors 03/07/19.
Martha Lee Stamper Extension Homemaker Scholarship   $500 Applicant must be a child, stepchild, or grandchild of an Owen County Extension Homemaker.  Must have a 2.0 or better GPA. Applications were emailed to Seniors 02/06/19. 
Owen County Cattleman's Association   $500 Applicants must be a senior at Owen County HS and a resident of Owen County. You must be a member or a family member (father, mother, or grandparent) has to be a member of the OC Cattleman's Association. You must have a GPA of 2.75 or better. Applications were emailed to Seniors 03/14/19.
Kentucky Cattlemen's Association Scholarship    $1,500
  • You must be a graduate from a Kentucky high school in the year of application.
  • Be accepted for enrollment in a Kentucky college or other institute of higher education.
  • Planning to major in Agriculture or an Agriculturally-related subject.
  • Applicant or their parent or guardian must be a member of the Kentucky Cattlemen's Association.

Culinary Scholarships (See Below)

There are several organizations that offer scholarships for culinary school. The James Beard Foundation makes dozens of scholarships available for study at institutions around the world, some for full-time study and some for cooking demonstration seminars. Awards are based on financial need and aptitude. Find out more by visiting www.jamesbeard.org. Awards for hospitality including culinary arts are available through the American Culinary Federation at www.acfchefs.org. The ACF website also includes a useful directory of accredited institutions. Weekly newsletter of scholarship and financial aid information. Also has list of contest students can enter to win money for college.

Guaranteed Scholarships

This comprehensive site lists scholarships that are unlimited in number, and require no interview, essay, portfolio, audition competition of other "secondary" requirements. The scholarships are listed by college. This site would be especially useful to valedictorians and other students with outstanding qualifications.

Higher Ed Net

FREE online service sponsored by ISAC which allows students to conveniently conduct a search for private scholarships and additional sources of financial aid.
 

High Five Scholarships

The High Five Scholarships website is now live with the largest collection of scholarships ever assembled. It is available to everyone free of charge. In addition to scholarships we will soon have free ACT and SAT practice tests and Study Guides.
